GATORS FALL ON SUPER SATURDAY

Looking as if they may break their 4 game losing streak the BGMR Gator Boy’s Basketball Team forgot how to play defense the second half and a potent Red Lake Warrior team used the Gator defensive ineptitude to run to a 79-66 victory over the Gators.
The Gators played a decent first half holding the Warriors to 26 points and went into halftime with a 28-26 halftime lead.  BGMR would come out in the second half on a mission and built their lead to 9 with just over 15 minutes to go in the game.  This however is when the wheels of the Gator bus came off.  Red Lake proceeded to outscore the Gators 50 to 28 rest of the way and bring home the 13 point margin of victory.
Offensively the Gators were led by Jacquan Rhen who had 21 points and 7 rebounds.  Nick Rodriguez scored 15, Aaron Dostal had 13 and Alex Rhen contributed 10 points and 7 rebounds for the Gators.
Playing perhaps their worse defensive game of the year will not sit well with the Gator coaching staff and locking down on defense will be an area of emphasis as playoff time nears.  The playoff picture is taking shape and playoff seeding should come out on Wednesday.
The Gators will finish regular season play tomorrow when they take on an ever improving and young Kittson County Bearcat team.  This will be the last regular season home game for several seniors so the Gator team is hoping for a near capacity crowd.  A Gator crowd that continues to show their passion in a positive way will only help as playoff time nears.
Although the Gators boys have struggled as of late, playoff time is just around the corner and BGMR has showed that they can play with everyone in the subsection.  Hopefully the Gators will hit their stride at the right time and do some tournament damage.
